Music Director
Position Overview
Bethany First Church of the Nazarene is seeking a full-time Music Director. The Music Director(MD) supports BFC’s mission of becoming more like Jesus and helping others come to know Him by leading and shaping Spirit-led worship experiences. The Music Director collaborates with worship leaders to enhance services, directs the worship band in both live settings and rehearsals, and programs worship elements including tracks, click, and production integration. They invest in the development and care of team members, foster an “open arms” culture of invitation, and model a life of generosity and personal devotion to God. This position also assists in recruiting and nurturing worship team members, maintains church-owned instruments and technology, and helps replicate the role by training future leaders. Reporting to the Worship Pastor, this individual plays a key role in uniting worship and production teams, supporting Celebrate Recovery worship monthly, and ensuring worship remains central to the life of the church.

Leads worship on Celebrate Recovery monthly rotation Tuesday nights
Specific Areas of Responsibility
1. Leads worship, based in BFC mission, values and practices.
Being with God
Assures that corporate worship is a center point in the life of the church; works toward an exceptional, Spirit-led worship experience for all members of the BFC community.
Leads from a personal relationship with God and fosters the practice of being in one-on-one time with Him.
Being with one another
Supports the practice of Group Life.
Participates in BFC Group Life.
Being with others
Leads an “open arms” culture of invitation.
Living generously
Supports an active culture of giving and serving.
Lives in generous sharing of resources and tithing.
2. Leads worship band in live worship settings and all rehearsals
Directs band through the worship set and service transitions in both 9am and 11am services and all special events. Playing an instrument is preferred; assists in vocal leadership when needed. Assists in leading Second Service worship team rehearsal on Tuesday nights, and First Service orchestra rehearsal on Wednesday nights
Programs worship services:
Programs main-stage keyboard sounds
Programs click, guides, and tracks using Ableton or Playback
Works with production to automate video and lighting
Serves as liaison between worship and production teams.
3. Assists in recruiting and supporting worship team band members
Serves as an ambassador not only for the Church, but the worship ministry of BFC
Assists worship leader in talent development and relationship-building for worship band
Replicates role through others by teaching and developing additional music directors
Able to fill in for Worship Leader during absence
4. Maintains church-owned instruments
Supports band members in use of technology and in maintenance of church-owned instruments and equipment (i.e. pedals, guitars, keyboards, drums, etc.)
Qualifications and Position Requirements:
Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy personal and family life.
Self-motivated leader; juggles multiple priorities and collaborates with a wide range of people.
Highly-organized with the ability to prioritize many different simultaneous tasks.
Great communicator with the ability to see a challenge from the perspective of all people.
Self-starter, decision-maker and capable of directing others and implementing projects.
Proficient in production and project management programs such as Propresenter; Various Digital Audio Workstations including: Ableton, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools
Lives a lifestyle in full agreement with the Church of the Nazarene Covenant of Christian Conduct and Covenant of Christian Character
Reports to: Nick Robertson, Executive Pastor of Worship and Missions
Resource team: Worship Pastors, Production Director, Creative Director, all members of Creative/Worship team
Role Oversight: Student and College Worship Leader
