Maintenance Technician

Bethany First Church is currently seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Facilities Director. This individual will perform general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, moving items, inspecting equipment, and documenting work using an online maintenance system.

This individual will perform general maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, moving items, inspecting equipment, and documenting work using an online maintenance system.

Classification: Full-Time; 40 hours/week, with overtime opportunities

Position Summary:

The maintenance technician is part of the Facilities Department and reports directly to

the Facilities Director. This individual performs general maintenance tasks including

minor repairs, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, moving items,

inspecting equipment, and documenting work using an online maintenance system.

Specific Areas of Responsibility:

  • Assist with general upkeep.

  • Fix broken or faulty equipment, fixtures, and building systems.

  • Maintain & inspect equipment, replacing filters, etc.

  • Inspect and maintain emergency response equipment, such as fire extinguishers and first aid kits, AEDs, etc.

  • Report safety incidents and near misses.

  • Keep track of equipment and supplies.

  • Work with external contractors when needed.

  • Assist and serve as back up to other Facilities employees.

  • Help to maintain adequate custodial supply stocks.

  • Maintain appropriate service and repair records.

  • Respond during storms or natural disasters that require grounds to be cleared of debris, snow or ice.

Qualifications and Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • At least two years of verifiable experience (three or more highly desirable) in facilities maintenance or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing

  • Ability to operate church owned vehicles (valid OK Driver’s License required).

  • Basic understanding of electrical, HVAC, plumbing and other systems.

  • Demonstrated experience as a maintenance technician.

  • Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds.

  • Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods.

  • Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including snow blowers, lawnmowers, and small hand tools.

  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.

  • Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy personal life.

  • Strong biblical and theological background; 

  • Is in agreement with Church of the Nazarene Statement of Faith

  • Lives a lifestyle in full agreement with the Church of the Nazarene Covenant of Christian Conduct and Covenant of Christian Character.

  • Self-motivated leader; demonstrates the ability to adopt and partner a long-term vision for family ministry at BFC.

  • Strong relationship capabilities; has a passion for reaching people for Christ and helping people become more like Christ.

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field; candidates who have a call to ministry are on the track for ordination. 

  • Strategic thinker who is also able to manage conflict and stay organized.
