Campus Renewal Phase Two
Renewing space where lives are shaped by Jesus—and sent into the world.
Our campus is a place of gathering for worship, discipleship, and community. Here, we’ve seen God work in incredible ways for decades–developing faith, strengthening families, calling disciples, and shaping compassion. And from this place, we’re sent out to love and serve in the name of Jesus.
Preliminary plans for this phase of campus renewal focus on key exterior improvements designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and overall campus experience.
As lives are shaped on this campus, they are sent outward—to our neighbors, our city, and the world. This campaign is about faithfully strengthening what God has entrusted to us so His mission can continue to reach beyond our walls and into the places He is calling us next.
We believe God is calling us:
to reach beyond maintenance into mission-minded renewal
to reach beyond comfort into generosity
to reach beyond our walls into our neighborhood and city
to reach beyond what we can do into what only God can do
Preliminary Project Scope
Parking Lot Repairs and Redesign
Resurfacing and Layout
Both the North and South parking lots will be resurfaced to create a smooth, level driving and parking surface. The South lot rows will be reoriented in order to create an east/west driving and walking pattern. This will improve safety and visibility.
Entry Points & Traffic Flow
Parking lot entry points will be adjusted to create simpler and more predictable traffic patterns. Fewer entry points and wider drives through the North and South lots will help improve overall safety and parking lot navigation for both drivers and pedestrians.
On-Street Parking Removal
Two areas of on-street parking will be removed: on N Mueller across from the Chapel and West Entrance, and on NW 39th Expressway between N Mueller and N Asbury. This will improve safety by reducing traffic hazards and improving sightlines.
Accessible Ramp & Stairs
A new, ADA-accessible ramp will be constructed on the east side of the South parking lot, allowing those with mobility challenges to safely navigate the significant elevation change. A wide set of stairs near the ramp will also provide a convenient path for pedestrians moving between the parking lot and crosswalk.
Street Safety Updates
Plans include a new primary crosswalk, connecting the South parking lot to the main building; and two additional stop signs at N Mueller and NW 41st Street to create a four-way stop.
Exterior Repairs and Paint
Exterior surfaces will be cleaned, repaired, and refreshed to extend the life of our buildings and improve overall appearance. This includes painting non-brick walls and the Chapel and Atrium roofs, repairing concrete and sidewalks, and upgrading exterior lighting for better visibility and safety.
Signage and Wayfinding
A new campus-wide exterior signage system will be installed to help guests and attenders easily navigate the property. This includes a new primary gateway sign at NW 39th Expressway and N Mueller, updated signs identifying each campus entrance, and clear exterior wayfinding and parking lot labels throughout the campus.
Landscaping Updates
Landscaping will be refreshed across the campus, with new plantings and improvements around signage and along the edges of the North and South parking lots. Bradford pear trees near the Chapel will be removed as part of these updates.

Our mission shapes everything we do, including how we care for our campus. Our buildings serve as a gathering place for worship, discipleship, community connection, and outreach throughout the week—and God is actively at work here.
Many areas of our campus have aged. By improving the building exterior and parking areas, we are creating a safer, more accessible, and more welcoming environment where people can gather, grow, and encounter Jesus.
This campaign is about Reaching Beyond our walls. What happens on this campus shapes us, but it doesn’t end here. These updates help remove barriers so we can focus on forming disciples who are sent out to love, serve, and share Jesus in our community and the world.

Exterior improvements directly impact safety, accessibility, and hospitality—the first ways people experience Bethany First Church. While we recognize that with a campus our size, there will always be needed exterior and interior improvements, this phase prioritizes removing barriers and creating a welcoming environment so our campus can better support ministry and reach beyond our walls into our community.
-
The total cost of Campus Renewal Phase Two is $3.25 million, reflecting the scope of improvements and repairs needed to ensure our campus remains safe, accessible, and welcoming for years to come. Because of the faithful and generous giving of this church over time, we have $1.25 million in reserve funds already designated toward this work. The scope of this project exceeds those designated funds.
Through careful planning and a commitment to steward the gifts entrusted to us well, we are able to move forward responsibly by focusing our targeted giving initiative toward raising the remaining $2 million needed to fund the project. This campaign is an invitation to reach beyond maintenance into mission-minded renewal, trusting that God will use our shared commitment to strengthen the place He uses to send us—into our neighborhoods, our city, and the next generation.
-
Yes. Both one-time gifts and pledges given over time are welcome. Every gift plays an important role in helping us reach our $2 million goal.

Parking lot construction is planned to start in late spring and will be completed in phases throughout the summer months. We will ensure adequate parking, including accessible spaces, is available. Golf carts and shuttles will be provided to help people move easily between parking areas and our buildings. We anticipate completion of the remaining components of the project by the end of 2026.
-
The construction for this project will be a collaborative effort between the BFC Facilities team and Lingo Construction Services, working together to ensure the project is completed safely and efficiently.

Reaching Beyond Into Our Community
Gina’s Story
Even in burnout and doubt, God was still reaching beyond—through one teacher, one invitation, and one “yes.”
Glen Kastner’s Story
A few years ago during a Sunday service at BFC, I felt God inviting me into something new. After a sermon on presenting our lives as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1), I went to the altar and surrendered myself as an instrument ready to serve wherever He called me.
I remembered Kim Bryan’s testimony about bringing health services to Tulakes. Even though I retired as a professional counselor in 2016, I sensed God calling me to provide mental health services there as well, and I began serving right away.
Over the past three years, the Holy Spirit’s guidance has been clear. God has allowed me to bring healing beyond my own ability. I’ve witnessed miracles and, at times, felt empowered to “walk on water.” This isn’t my ministry—it’s His.
God shapes us here and sends us out. That’s what Reaching Beyond is all about.
