Never Change Devotional - Day 5

We are a Royal Company

Introduction: Sometimes our image of ourselves is so negative, that we imagine God choosing us like the last kid picked at recess or a pity invite to the party. God has chosen you. The choosing of you was not out of obligation, rather it was out of love. It was not a mandate, it was sacrifice. It was not coincidence, it was intentional. Our natural inclination toward sin leads us to a place of shame and guilt. We don’t feel worthy to sit at the same table and dine with Jesus. But Christ has made a place for you. There is a seat waiting for you, and the dinner party won’t start until you arrive.

Scripture: 1 Peter 2.9-10

9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Devotional: We chose the band name Royal Company to constantly remind people that they are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s special possession. God has chosen you. God has chosen us. Today you can have the confidence that God will never change His mind about you—it is made up, and the news is good. Did you hear that? Don’t miss it. The news is GOOD. Because of this good news, we sing and worship in the hope that our minds might be made up about God.

Take a few minutes to journal and pray. How does recognizing and believing God has chosen you change you? How can you choose God today?

As we close this devotional, pray this prayer:

Thank you for being who you say you are.
I pray that your peace, mercy, grace,
and love will pour into my life.
Give me the grace to lay my shortcomings
before you.
Guide me to full surrender of my life.
Let the breath in my lungs praise you in
every area of my life.
Thank you for choosing me.
