Never Change Devotional - Day 2

“When fear takes hold I find you next to me”

Introduction: What are you afraid of? Fear is a real emotion that forces a real response. It’s true, we all have something we are afraid of: spiders, clowns, the dark, or the main character of the scary movie you weren’t supposed to watch. These are humorous. But we all have real fears too—fear of losing a loved one, being alone, not being able to make a payment, someone you love not knowing Jesus, loss of security, failure, or never being accepted.

Scripture: Isaiah 41.10-13

10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
11 “All who rage against you
    will surely be ashamed and disgraced;
those who oppose you
    will be as nothing and perish.
12 Though you search for your enemies,
    you will not find them.
Those who wage war against you
    will be as nothing at all.
13 For I am the LORD your God
    who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, Do not fear;
    I will help you.

Devotional: Fear has the power to be an emotion that debilitates us, and robs us of being the person God has created us to be. It quickly becomes something that separates us from God. Where there is real fear in our lives, there is little room for faith. Let your faith be bigger than your fear. Spend a few moments reading this passage of scripture, reminding yourself that fear doesn’t come from God; God never leaves you, will never change, and is next to you.

Romans 8.38-39

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Take the next few minutes to journal and pray. When fear takes hold of your life, how do you respond? What do you fear today?
