We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is not a distant, mysterious, cosmic force. He is a reality in our daily spiritual walk—always with us, guiding us into all truth and renewing us as we become more like Jesus. This week, may the amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, become very real to us we think of the wonderful gift we’ve been given (2 Corinthians 13.14).
Monday – John 14.15-17. Embrace the Gift of the Holy Spirit. The scripture is clear—the Holy Spirit is a vital, equal part of the triune God. In a very personal, one-on-one way, God gives the Holy Spirit to us as believers. Then as our Companion walks with us daily, God generously pours His love into our hearts through His Spirit (Romans 5.5). Will you say yes—anew today—to this wonderful gift from the Father and Son? Embrace the Holy Spirit with your whole heart. Anticipate His friendship. Practice His presence today.
Tuesday – John 16.12-15. The Gift of Guidance and Wisdom. He is the Spirit of Truth, teaching and guiding us, bringing the words of Jesus to our minds, and leading us into all truth. He helps us discern right from wrong (John 14.26). He guides our choices and decisions, and leads us to the discovery of God’s solutions, the formation of God’s plans. Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life- giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! (Romans 15.13, The Message)
Wednesday – Romans 8.26. The Gift of Comfort. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, our Counselor, our Comforter, our Advocate. He walks alongside us to encourage us with His abiding presence. He speaks for us
(Mark 13.11), helps us to withstand trouble, deal with grief, loneliness, or anxiety. The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Whatever the longing of your heart today, the Comforter is already there, at the deepest part of your being. Rest in Him.
Thursday – Acts 1.8.
The Gift of Power. The Holy Spirit is the source of all spiritual power — the enduring, persevering, lasting power to withstand challenges, to grow steadily, and remain steadfast in our faith, regardless of circumstances around you or emotions that ebb and flow. The Holy Spirit’s power working within us builds courage and spiritual strength. He indwells us and prompts us to find new ways to reach out to others.
Friday – Galatians 5.22-23.
The Gift of His Character. In our daily walk with the Holy Spirit, He imparts His nature to us. He bears His fruit in our lives and builds our character in His likeness so we become the human embodiment of God’s love, joy, and goodness. Write the list of the Fruits of the Spirit into your life. Memorize the list as your goals. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight into each one—love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Saturday – Romans 8.28-30.
The Gift of Renewal. The Holy Spirit refines and transforms us from the inside out. Every day we must deliberately choose to stay in transformative friendship with the Holy Spirit. As we walk in His presence and rely wholly on Him, He is continually in the process of conforming us into the image of Jesus and to life anew, just like a fitness trainer, He is shaping us to our fullest potential. What a gift we have received!
