Jubilee Ministry to Bethany

Bethany First Church demonstrates Christ's love throughout our community by helping local people with:

  • Financial Issues
  • Housing Repair
  • Education
  • Transportation
  • Nutrition
  • And in a time of need

As a part of BFC's centennial celebration, many of you participated in the Jubilee offering. Half of this offering is designated for our work in Swaziland and the other half is to be used in our local community.

A committee has been working to create a plan to minister to the people of our community using the Jubilee money and the many talents of our congregation.

We believe this work is just a start to what the Church can do to minister to those in our community. There are many people living within the shadow of the church who need assistance in many different ways. Our hope and prayer is that a ministry to our neighbors can be started that will carry on for many years using the resources and talents of the compassionate and gifted people of our church.

Looking for People

Many of you have already contributed financially through the Jubilee ministry and now we are looking for those who will contribute their skills, talents and time. The Jubilee committee is currently looking for individuals or groups of interested in these neighborhood projects. Sunday School classes or small groups may want to take a specific project. We need people willing to labor in variety of areas as listed on the attached sheet, and also those who have skills in car repair, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and roofing. Please use the attached sheet to sign up as a group or individual.

Looking for Projects

Since many people attending BFC either live or have family and friends in the Bethany area, you may be aware of situations where we as a church could be of service. Simply email us with your ideas, to Ron Wilson. Once we have this information we will contact the person you identified and begin the process of assistance. Initially we plan to focus our service area to a square mile within these boundaries of: East of Rockwell, South of 50th, West of Hammond and North of 36th.

Looking for Prayer

We understand for various reasons some of you will not be able to participate in this work at this time. But, we are asking everyone to please remember to pray that many lives will be changed because of the relationships made through the work of this ministry.
