Today is the last Sunday of our Transformed series, and I have to say that I have been amazed by the transformation God is doing in our community. Last Sunday, I realized something incredible while in Next Step class, and I wanted to share it with you.
Next Step is primarily for people who are new to BFC. The class answers questions like, “What is the next step if I want to become a Christian, become a member of the church, or be baptized? How can I find a place to serve, or get my children or teenagers involved? What if I have habits hurts or hang-ups in my life?”
Early on in the class, one of the questions I asked was “How long have you been attending Bethany First Church?” The first person who spoke up said, “About six weeks.” They then named the person who invited them.
The next person said, “We’ve also been attending six weeks.”
A third also responded, “Six weeks.”
In that moment, it hit me: Six weeks ago was September 11! My heart swelled with thanksgiving-- I asked you to invite others to come for September 11, and you did. And not only did they come, but they came back again and again. And some of them finally found themselves in a Next Step class, wanting to know more about BFC and how to get involved.
That’s just one example of how this journey of transformation has impacted our BFC community. I have heard encouraging things from many of you about what God is doing in your lives. Things like, “Pastor, I’ve been finding time to spend one-on-one with God every single day,” or “I’ve been going to church every week through this series and it’s the most I’ve been to church in years!” Someone else said “I’ve been going to a small group every week and it has been life changing.” I even heard, “I have found a place to serve, but I am the one who is being blessed.” I have felt continually inspired by the stories you have shared.
It is evident that over the last six weeks, God has been changing us. That change is just too good not to share. It’s amazing that you have invited people who have had the opportunity to join us in this process. As we move forward, I encourage you to continue to live generously with the message of transformation, inviting other to join you on the journey.
